HERTFORDSHIRE
A Chef’s Outdoor Kitchen Inspired by Turkish Ciprian Heritage
This was a particularly special project for us at Amigo Outdoor Living — creating a beautiful outdoor kitchen and entertaining space for professional chef Meliz, inspired by her Turkish Ciprian heritage and brought to life in her own home.
Amigo Outdoor Living designed and managed the entire project, from the initial concept and groundwork through to building the bespoke outdoor kitchen barn, pergola and all the elements surrounding the outdoor kitchen.
Meliz wanted her outdoor kitchen to feel much more than just a cooking area. The vision was to create a warm, characterful space where she could cook professionally, entertain family and friends, and bring a little piece of her heritage into her home.
The result is a stunning outdoor kitchen combining traditional materials with a contemporary design.
A Kitchen Designed Around the Chef
At the heart of the space is a bespoke centre island, creating the perfect focal point and providing plenty of workspace for preparation and entertaining. Beautiful stone-clad walls add texture, warmth and character, while bespoke storage cupboards keep everything organised and close at hand.
The kitchen incorporates an Amigo wood-fired oven alongside a bespoke barbecue, giving Meliz the flexibility to cook in a variety of ways and making the space as practical as it is beautiful.
Bringing the Outdoors In
Large bifold doors connect the indoor and outdoor areas, creating a seamless flow between the home and garden.
Outside, we created a dedicated seating and dining area beneath a bespoke pergola — the perfect place to relax, socialise and enjoy food straight from the kitchen.
The pergola provides an inviting space for entertaining throughout the year, while the carefully considered layout means the whole area works together as one cohesive outdoor living space.
A Personal Touch
What makes this project particularly unique is the personal story behind the design. Meliz wanted to incorporate elements inspired by her Turkish Ciprian heritage into her professional home kitchen, creating a space that feels personal and meaningful as well as highly functional.
From the stone-clad walls and centre island to the wood-fired oven, barbecue and generous entertaining area, every element has been designed with cooking, hospitality and socialising in mind.
It is a beautiful example of how an outdoor kitchen can become an extension of the home — and a space that reflects not only how you cook, but who you are.
