Ingredients
- 2 sheets ready made puff pastry
- butter
- pesto
- 2 x eggs
Method
Why not try this fun pastry Christmas Tree in your wood fired oven? The kids will enjoy helping too. We have used pesto but you can use any filling you like.
Temperature: 180c
Bring your oven up to maximum temperature (550c) and let temperature drop to approx 180c or use your residual heat from a roast. Cook pastry Christmas tree on oven floor (with door open like you would pizza) for approx 15 minutes. Remove when golden in colour.
- Twist and tear off the ‘tree branches’ and eat or dip in one of your favourite dips. Enjoy!
- Roll out the sheets of puff pastry on baking paper. Cut them in a 1 identical circle shape. Spread the pesto over one of the circles and place the 2nd circle of pastry on top.
- With a sharp knife cut out a Christmas tree shape with approx 10 cms branches, discarding the remainder of the pastry. Twist each individual branch.
- Beat the 2 eggs in a bowl and brush over pastry. Place in oven.
